Air Quality
For more than 30 years, CCEEB has positively influenced air quality policies in California. Our mantra has been ‘maximum benefit, least cost’.
This is an important concept. Since 1970, California’s businesses have helped cut air pollution by one-third while doubling the size of the economy. As a result, California is home to some of the most efficient and environmentally responsible operations in the world. Across the nation, business spends roughly $20 billion each year complying with air quality regulations. Additional reductions are often the most expensive, some prohibitively so, and many require advanced technologies not yet available.
That's why CCEEB helps launch new policy models, such as emissions credit-trading programs, which both spur innovations and advanced technologies and tap the last bit of efficiency from existing systems.
But more needs to be done. California remains plagued by mobile source emissions and over-crowded transportation systems. Communities around major transit corridors are especially at risk, and suffer disproportionately from air pollution. CCEEB remains committed to finding new opportunities to control air emissions and to target programs that make the most impact. CCEEB encourages further research and development in clean energy, sustainable industry and clean transportation.
