South Coast Air Project
MISSION
To ensure that the South Coast Air Basin achieves needed air quality improvements in an efficient, equitable and cost effective manner; to work with the SCAQMD to ensure the development and implementation of programs that will foster economic development while protecting air quality; and to reform District activities to direct resources to the highest priority activities.

PROJECT PRINCIPLES
- Promote the attainment of air quality objectives in the South Coast Air Basin.
- Encourage the streamlining and accountability of the SCAQMD.
- Promote timely permitting and rule making by the SCAQMD.
- Encourage cost-effective regulations, which ensure that California remain competitive with other states.
- Base regulatory priorities on sound science and true risk.
- Promote market-based incentive programs.
- Consider the cumulative impact of regulatory programs.
- Promote equitable enforcement and fee procedures.
- Consider community input in regulatory policy making.
- Encourage the provision of accurate and understandable public information.
- Help the agency assess opportunities for additional emission reductions from mobile sources as it implements its Air Quality Management Plan.
